The Name of the Rose: including the Author's Postscript

The Name of the Rose - Umberto Eco This book is a rarity, both a critical and popular success, a literary and erudite book that is also a gripping historical mystery. It was made into a film--not a good one, which might put people off the book, which is a shame. Brother William of Baskerville makes a terrific medieval sleuth, and Eco has the ability to transport you to another world and make this distant century both familiar and alien. A moving, involving book with layers of meaning that repays rereading.
